The APUK Bingley & Aire Valley group aims to create an online and physical space to offer information, support, friendship and community to local parents and beyond. The group has a small (and growing!) sling library and an extensive AP and Gentle Parenting Book library which can be borrowed on a monthly basis for a small fee.
We meet every two weeks, but alternate between discussion meets at Shipley Library and play meets at Little Daisys. Please check our Facebook for our meetup date and locations!
Our discussion meets take place in meeting room 1 at Shipley library, where we will discuss a set topic, or occasionally have a speaker join us. The meets will still be informal and you are welcome to suggest topics or ask questions unrelated to the topic!
Children are welcome but we are only able to provide limited toys.
There is a suggestion donation of £2 per family for the meeting to cover costs. Light refreshments are provided and we encourage group members to bring snacks for the group to share if they so wish!
We also hold 4 weekly play meets, come and chat to other attachment/gentle parents whilst your children play in the soft play at Little Daisy’s! These meetups are unstructured and friendly. Little Daisys is a lovely soft play centre for under 5s which is clean, bright and welcoming, with plenty of space for parents to sit with a cuppa whilst the little ones explore and have fun! We require numbers in advance for these meets as far as possible so that we are able to book a table for us all – but provided Little Daisys isn’t full you are of course welcome to just come along on the day.
The group was originally set up by Annie, and there are now 4 cofacilitators each bringing their own skills and experiences!
Annie’s love of attachment parenting means that we have an extensive book library available to borrow for a small fee.
We also have a small selection of slings available for trial.
Whilst not yet trained, we are also passionate about supporting breastfeeding mums and can offer support with this if required (and can provide details of contacts if advice is required).
