“Overwhelmed and exhausted by the demands of caring for a family, I approached Michael for help with becoming ‘a better parent’… Along the journey I also found help in becoming ‘a better me’. This has not been a journey of ‘self improvement’ per se, rather a journey of ‘self acceptance’. By becoming more loving and accepting of myself, I found within me a well of unconditional love and acceptance from which I can nourish the high demands of my family, without feeling completely empty and depleted myself. It is startling too how much my marriage has also improved as a result. Thank you Michael. I cannot recommend your work more highly.”

I just wanted to say a big thank you to Michelle, who has been so supportive of me starting up a local APUK group – I don’t feel like I have the ‘traditional’ expertise of some of the other group leaders (e.g. babywearing or breastfeeding support skills), but felt I had something to offer in terms of emotional support for parents. Michelle was so open to discussion about the best way to take things forward, and her responses were so helpful in enabling me to start to see the direction I wanted the group to take. I’ve still got a long way to go before it gets to where I want it to be, but I know Michelle will be there to support me if I need her! Starting up a local group has been amazing for me, and I would recommend others to go for it if you are thinking about it – even if you don’t necessarily feel your skills cover all the AP tools! Thanks Michelle for all your support

I just love the feeling of being with other women: feeling supported, listened to and included without judgement. To feel part of a community like this before I even have my baby, in my opinion, is one of the best things I could do for myself as a mum-to-be. I know that I will make more ‘mummy friends’ after my baby is born, but I feel like I have already put my roots down and am building a strong foundation for the kind of parent I want to be, because of the kinds of parents (and children!) I am choosing to be around.
Thank you APUK Derby for welcoming me!
